Welcome

The Space is a multi-arts centre on the Isle of Dogs, programming a mixture of theatre, music, comedy and dance. Converted from a 19th century church, with stained glass windows, a Steinway grand piano and flexible seating, the venue provides a unique and atmospheric environment. SpaceWorks
SpaceWorks is the brand new in-house theatre company based at the Space on the Isle of Dogs. SpaceWorks provide free workshops and training on many areas of theatre work - from performing on stage to working behind the scenes. Whether you are an absolute beginner wanting to find out more about theatre work or a budding professional looking to enhance your skills, you will find something to suit you at SpaceWorks.
Divided into three groups - Space Cadets (7-11 years olds), Space Youth Drama (12-16 year olds) and Space Productions (anyone over 17) - SpaceWorks will provide opportunities for anyone with an interest in theatre to get involved.
Working with professional tutors and directors, we will hold regular drama workshops and rehearsals, leading up to public showcase performances. In addition, there will be courses on a wide range of skills including writing, directing, stage fighting, puppetry, mask and movement. If you prefer to be behind the scenes, we will also provide training in costume, set, lighting and sound design, not to mention opportunities to learn about marketing, budgeting and front of house.
SpaceWorks tutors are also available to provide workshops in schools and community centres.
If you are interested in getting with SpaceWorks, or want some more information, please contact us on 020 7515 7799, info@space.org.uk, or visit us at The Space, 269 Westferry Road, London E14 3 RS.
You can register to get involved all year round, but please note places are limited for each term so we will book you into the next available course.
